Our Team

"Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day;

teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime."

Guided by that philosophy our focus is mostly on building skills and providing tools to achieve long lasting impact. We always build up local knowledge, carry out thorough analysis, and collaborate with other organisations and specialists to make sure that our project outcomes match the needs of the Homes and people we are helping.

We do our work at I-AM-IN Foundation wholeheartedly because we think it is a privilege to be able to help others. And we appreciate every support provided by our community.

Every donated penny is allocated directly to a project. That is our commitment!

And this is our team (left to right): Nhan, Lien, Bich, Hoa, Nam

Tran Nguyen Ngoc Nhan, Co-Founder

Nhan is passionate about volunteering works helping children. She strongly believes in the quote “we make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give”.

Concerned about the difficult situation of those kids who are raised in orphanages, Nhan has founded I AM IN FOUNDATION to help orphanage children living in remote provinces.Nhan graduated from RMIT International University (BA) and has developed expertise in Organization Development and Recruitment.

Tran Thi Bich Lien, Accountant

Lien was born in a poor village in Ha Tinh, Central-Province of Vietnam. She moved to Ho Chi Minh City with her family when she was 10. She can very well appreciate the differences between living & studying in a remote village compared to the conditions provided in Ho Chi MInh City. She sympathises with children experi-encing tough childhood in remote provinces. Hence, Lien wants to get involved in I AM IN FOUNDATION.

Lien graduated from Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics (BS), and works at a Manufacturing Company.

Vu Thi Bich, Internal Auditor

Bich is a happy girl who always smiles and is nice to people in her community. She loves ideas of helping people and believes “not all of us can do great things, but we can do small things with great love.” (Mother Teresa). This saying is often applied to programmes that are designed to raise chilldren in a caring environment. That is the reason for her to join I AM IN FOUNDATION.

Bich graduated from Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics (BS),  and works at an international Retailer.

Tran Thi Nhu Hoa, Communications Associate

Hoa loves the concept of “teaching a man to fish rather than giving a man a fish”, since she believes in self-help works which fosters dynamic energy inside of each person, so there will be long-term and consistent improvement. This is a reason why, Hoa is so eager to join I AM IN, to use her Marketing expertise to help people understand more about the concept. As a result, more disadvantage kids, especially from isolated areas, will have better future by having education and then job.

Le Hoang Nam, Co-Founder

Nam grew up in a family with many siblings and cousins. In his childhood he always enjoyed the love he was given, and he believes that love and education are two essential elements for any child development. Being aware of how many children in Vietnam still are in lack of education he decided to join Nhan in building I AM IN FOUNDATION.

Nam studied in Hamburg (MS) and Cambridge (PhD). He previously worked for a global management consulting firm, serving clients in CPG, Automotive, Banking, Insurance and Pharmaceuticals.

Mission and Work

86%

of ethnic children in Vietnam have to work to support their families

What drives us ...

86%, this number is undoubtedly too high by any standard. Child labor robs ethnic children of childhood, which could lead to significant negative impacts on their education, health and social competency. These impacts may have long lasting effect, and thus even affect the next generations.

How do we go about addressing the issue ...

I AM IN Foundation aims to address this challenging issue. Our mission is (a) to help institutions taking care of ethnic children become financially more self-sufficient so as to secure education budget, and (b) to bring better education and perspectives to disadvantaged ethnic children.

Furthermore, we want to make people aware of this issue and seek support from our community to jointly solve this issue.

Where we are today ...

Until now we have developed close relationship with two homes, namely Teresa Ethnic Home and Vinh Son Orphanage. With support from our community, we have implemented various projects to improve the financial situations of those institutions, and to improve the education and life-skill training for children living there.

Currently we are working on programs to bring perspectives to the older children at those homes, helping them to become confident and shape their own journey, as we did.

Where we want to go ...

Taking what we learn through work at Teresa Ethnic Home and Vinh Son Orphanage, we aim to approach other institutions throughout Vietnam. In total, we target at five provinces: Lao Cai, Quang Binh, Quanh Ngai, Kontum and An Giang. In each province we will build up close relationship with the institutions and community, design a concept that is viable in that respective province, and rise funding for implementing - with the aim to achieve long lasting impacts.

It can be a long journey, but we think it is worth going for - especially with the support from community!
